Freya Howard is an emerging Writer/Director, born in the Hunter, based in Sydney (Gadigal Land), and passionate about telling psychological, character-driven stories that play with genre.
Their body of directed work is eclectic and varied, spanning from experimental Sci-Fi (’Again’ 2021, produced for HiberNATION Festival), to Mumblecore (‘Flat’ 2019), to Road Trip Dramedy (‘Through the Teeth’ 2026), with a Gothic Thriller in the works. But each project flirts with identity, memory and the messy, neglected monsters that lurk in the dark corners of our relationships.
Freya has spent the last 5 years working across Assistant Directing and Production in Film, TV, Unscripted TV and Theatre. Their more recent credits include Street Fighter (2026) for Legendary Entertainment, Dalliance (2026) for Roadshow Rough Diamond, and Playing Gracie Darling (2025) for Curio Pictures.
They also have non-fiction work published in Academic Journals and Magazines, and have completed a Transdisciplinary research Thesis through UTS TD School that explores the links between Cinematic Music and the emotional interpretation of memories.
